Property ownership, in shares.
e-Khaya Sonke divides a property into many equal shares. You buy as many as you want, and you own that part of the home — and that part of what it earns.
Four steps
- Sign up and verifyCreate your account in the app and confirm your identity, as required for any financial product in South Africa.
- Choose a propertyEach property comes with photos, location, condition report and how it will be rented out.
- Buy your sharesPick how many shares you want. Your ownership is recorded against that specific property.
- Earn and growWhen the property is rented, rental income is shared among owners in proportion to their shares.
The stokvel idea, for property.
Members pool money
A group saves together, building towards something none of them could easily afford alone.
Owners pool into property
Many people each own a share of a real home, so everyone gets access to property — not just those with big deposits.
Questions
Do I actually own part of the property?
That's the aim: your shares are tied to a specific property, not a general fund. The exact legal structure is being finalised with our advisors before launch, and we'll explain it clearly before anyone invests.
How much do I need to start?
We're designing e-Khaya Sonke so that people can start small. The minimum amount will be confirmed before we open the first property.
How do I earn?
Owners share in the rental income from the property, in proportion to how many shares they hold. Property values can also change over time.
Can I sell my shares?
We plan to let owners sell their shares to other members. How and when this works will be set out before launch.
Is it risky?
All investments carry risk. Property values and rental income can go down as well as up, and a property can stand empty. We'll be open about the risks of each property.
When can I invest?
e-Khaya Sonke is not open for investment yet. Join the early-access list and we'll tell you first.
